2016 Season

COACH TURNER

Turner has over 15 years of high school and college coaching experience. He was the co-offensive coordinator and running backs coach for Vista Murrieta High School. For the past three years, he has been the Broncos’ Varsity assistant defensive coach and huddle coordinator. Turner, a math teacher, had also been the Broncos’ assistant coach for the boys’ Varsity basketball team and boys’ and girls’ track and field team.

Prior to coming to Vista Murrieta,  Turner was the interim head football coach and defensive coordinator at Mayfair High School in Lakewood. He was also the head boys’ and girls’ Track and Field teams. Turner played football in high school and college and he was a member of the coaching staff at UCLA, New Mexico State University and Arizona State University.

 
Coach Turner has been working hard; and has seamlessly become apart of our Ram Family!

RAM Update……

While we are now enjoying our off-season, we want to take an opportunity to review what we’ve done and update what we’re doing now.
 
  • For the 1st TIME IN PROGRAM HISTORY, we took a team to Hawaii.
  • We enjoyed 5 days and 4 nights of time together, lived together, ate together and earned a 39 – 0 shutout victory to start off our 2015 season.
  • For the 1st TIME IN PROGRAM HISTORY, we won a home league game, defeating Temecula Valley 34 – 14, and giving up the fewest points we ever have in a Southwestern League game in program history.  This was also our 2nd ever league win in school history (@ TVHS / 2012)
  • For the 1st TIME IN PROGRAM HISTORY, we won multiple league games!
  • For the 1st TIME IN PROGRAM HISTORY, we beat Chaparral High School, defeating them by a score of 45 – 21, while shutting the Pumas out in the 2nd half of the game.  This is only the 3rd time in program history that we have had a 2nd half shutout in a Southwestern League game (@ TVHS / 2012 & @ Chaparral / 2013)
  • For the 1st TIME IN PROGRAM HISTORY, we won our last game of the season, ending the season on a high note with our 2nd league win of the year.
  • For the 1st TIME IN PROGRAM HISTORY, we had a 1st Team All-Southwestern League Quarterback (Sr. - Peyton Uhl  - 6’1”/201 lbs.)
  • For the 1st TIME IN PROGRAM HISTORY, we had a 1st Team All-Southwestern League Linebacker (Sr.-Blake Johnson  -  5’11”/209 lbs.)
  • For the 1st TIME IN PROGRAM HISTORY, we had a USA Today and a “Tom Lemming” All-American (Sr. – Nathan Smith – 6’7”/273 lbs.)
  • For the 1st TIME IN PROGRAM HISTORY, we had a Division IA / FBS full scholarship athlete (Sr. – Nathan Smith – USC Trojans….early Spring enrollee)
*Though we have had several other Division IAA / FCS, Div. II, Div. III and NAIA athletes.
 
Mesa Football had an excellent representation on the All-League selections.

We enjoyed what was, by all accounts, THE BEST SEASON IN PROGRAM HISTORY!!!
The 2016 RAMS are now working hard in the weight room and on the field to prepare for and ready themselves and their teammates to keep this momentum going!  A revised version of the RAM FACTS is now posted.  We thank all who supported us this 2015 season, and look forward to your support in 2016!  GO RAMS!!

Nathan Smith USC Signing Presentation...

RAM family…
 
Please join us in honoring Nathan after school on this Friday, December 18th at 12:20 p.m.
 
Nathan Smith’s USC Signing Presentation will be next Friday at 12:20 p.m., right after school in the Impact Center / ‘Big Gym’ foyer
 
Nathan will be a ‘Spring Enrollee’ at USC in January of 2016 and Friday will be his last day as a student on our campus, but he’ll be a RAM forever.
